I have been in the mortgage and lead management business since 2004, starting my career at Nationstar Mortgage, now known as Mr. Cooper, as a consumer direct loan officer. Within two years I became a sales manager, leading a team of 10-15 loan officers. In 2008, I started and led a team that managed lead distribution, call routing and lead analytics for 5 different origination channels. I was tasked with increasing conversion rates on all lead sources and maximizing the recapture rate for our portfolio retention efforts.
In order to do this, I knew I needed a lead management system with the power to handle sophisticated lead routing across the many channels and strategies that we had at the time. I implemented Velocify – cloud-based intelligent sales automation software – and grew the system to over a thousand users in Nationstar’s Portfolio Retention, Partner Plus, New Customer Acquisition, REO/Purchase and Retail channels. In 2013, Nationstar acquired Greenlight Loans, and I led and completed the implementation of Velocify to over 300 loan officers in Irvine, CA. With Nationstar being the largest Velocify client at the time, I identified opportunities for Velocify in account management and became an internal consultant on the professional services team at Velocify.
In 2014, I joined the Velocify team officially, to assist and advise Velocify's enterprise clients on new implementations, lead management strategies and lead conversion analytics to help drive a maximum ROI for Velocify’s customers. In 2015, I became an account manager for their enterprise client portfolio and managed more than 35 accounts for three years.
In 2018, I became the VP of Enterprise Sales and Client Management at Home Captain. With Home Captain, I helped expand into new enterprise accounts and assisted these companies with improved conversion rates on their purchase leads. Using my experience from Nationstar, I also helped develop a product originally called "Customer Captain" – a powerful portfolio retention product that assists Portfolio lenders with recapturing customers who are selling and buying a new home.
In 2019, I founded SDP Solutions so I can assist businesses of all sizes and areas of focus in improving the efficiency of their lead management strategy and systems.
I'm one of very few people in the world (estimated to be around 20,000 people) to have bowled at 300 game (2014) and shot a hole-in-one in golf (2002)!
I started my lead management career with Leads360 in 2007. Leads360 turned into Velocify, which was acquired by Ellie Mae, which was acquired by ICE Technologies. Throughout my journey I did everything from customer support to client success to implementations to management to pre-sale solutions engineering. But the focus was always on putting the customer first and providing excellent service.
I had seven jobs in six years before I started at Leads360. I was on a mission to find a career where I could use my combination of people skills, technical skills, and bridging that gap. I also always enjoyed teaching (one of my seven jobs) so training followed nicely as part of my search. My time at Velocify provided me with the opportunity to expand my skills even more, and learn to apply them in the mortgage and lead management space.
After almost 15 years with Velocify, I made the move to SDP Solutions to work with my most prized protégé, Scott Payne. I trained Scott on Velocify early in my career. I learned as much from him about the mortgage industry and lead management as he learned from me about Velocify. We have stayed in touch all of these years, and I am excited to now be working side by side with Scott.

My Name is Billy Cheng. I started out the journey within the Mortgage Industry at Mr. Cooper/Nationstar Mortgage as an Analyst extracting insights from Sales & Leads related data and managing Velocify as administrator. After 3 years with the Lead Management Team, I was promoted to Manager, Product Support that oversees Lead Management Systems and Call Routing Strategy for our 900 strong call center sales team. At the time, I oversaw managing Velocify, CallerReady (our dialer solution) and our call routing solution that sits on top of Avaya Contact Center. One project I’ve spearheaded that transform the dialer from calling the customer first to calling the agent first, which maintains speed to contact but increase customer experience and satisfaction dramatically on lead form leads. I was heavily involved with multiple Originations and Marketing initiatives including Mr. Cooper’s home grown Point of Sales system and digital marketing optimization.
After four and a half years with Mr. Cooper Mortgage, I saw the great opportunity at Scott Payne’s team on how he’s able to help countless lenders maximize the potential of Velocify and transform their lead management strategies. So I decided to join him! Knowing Scott and how he built the Mr. Cooper/Nationstar Lead Management infrastructure, I know I’ve made the right move!
My name is Michael Peronto and I started off my experience in the mortgage industry with Metropolitan Home Mortgage in Irvine CA. While working there I obtained my NMLS license, self-taught myself the Velocify & Encompass systems, and became a Sales Manager. After working at Metropolitan Home Mortgage for a few years I left and went to work at a lead management company called Velocify. They brought me in to help consult their largest mortgage clients including Citizens Bank, Nationstar Mortgage, Everbank, and many more on their system. My primary focus at Velocify was to help my customers maximize their profitability with the Velocify platform, assist with building integrations, and improve their call center strategies.
After 4 years at Velocify I went on to work at multiple mortgage companies including First Direct Lending (now refi.com), Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, and Cardinal Financial Company. At Cardinal Financial I ran a 800 seat Velocify account, installed a dialer platform, and ran a multi-million dollar marketing budget. We became one of the nations largest consumer direct lenders while I was the Director of Lead Marketing.
I left Cardinal Financial for SDP Solutions because my passion is consulting. I absolutely love helping clients improve their Omni-Channel strategies, Velocify, Contact Strategies, Reputation Management strategies, and get the maximum ROI out of their marketing budgets. The icing on the cake is for coming to work at SDP is that I get to work with Scott Payne, who is a great Velocify Administrator and is knowledgeable about the mortgage industry.
I have driven across the United States 3 times in a U-Haul moving truck.
